Product Description
Type Three piece set made of a fountain pen, mechanical pencil, and Liquid Lead pencil.
Product Name Parker 51 Aerometric
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA. Circa 1949: the pencil has a readable 9. date code, but the codes imprint on the liquid lead had no code, and the pen's imprint is too worn to make out.
Length Pen is full size at 5-3/8", and both the liquid lead and mechanical pencil are 5-3/16".
Filling System The pen has an Aerometric squeeze filling system. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the cap-actuated mechanism (press the cap down just like modern mechanical pencils), and we'll include a small packet of these leads. Unfortunately Liquid Lead refills are no longer made, so there is not a great way to get the Liquid Lead pencil working.
Color Navy Grey finish with Lustraloy brushed steel caps, chrome plated trim, arrow clips, and pearlescent cap jewels.
Nib MEDIUM gold nib is smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Near mint condition with very light wear only. The sac of the fountain pen shows hardly any staining. We noticed minor handwear on the barrel of the fountain pen, shiny marks on the cap of the LL pencil, and just some minor marks of wear on the mechanical pencil's cap. Otherwise the caps are gorgeous, and the barrels show only very light usage. There's a lioght mark here or there on the trim of some of the pieces, but all are free of any brassing or real plating wear. No cracks or chips, and no dents or dings. The pen and mechanical pencil are working very well, and the whole set looks great together.
