Product Description
Type Fountain pen and mechanical pencil set
Product Name Parker 51 Demi Aerometric
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA - 1951 (the code indicating manufacturing date is 50 on the pen and 51 on the pencil, so they were probably sold in 1951).
Length Demi size. Pen is 5-1/16" pencil is 4-4/3".
Filling System The pen is an Aerometric squeeze filling system. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads, which it extends via the cap actuated system, which is gravity fed (you press the cap down like on modern mechanical pencils, only there is no real pushing mechanism, so the pencil has to be right-side-up for lead to extend). We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Cocoa colored bodies with 1/10 12k gold filled caps in a pattern of converging lines with the arrow clip. Pearlescent cap jewels. The pencil has a chrome plated tip.
Nib FINE nib is gold and a little on the larger side of fine. It looks like it is in excellent condition with a lot of tipping material, and feels smooth.
Condition Excellent condition. There are a couple of extremely tiny indents in the cap of the fountain pen. There are two very small lines under the surface of the lower barrel of the pen, which cannot be felt on the surface (you can see them just a tiny bit in the first and final photos below). The pencil shows just minor microscratching on the cap and barrel, which are present on the pen as well. There's a tiny bit of brassing on the ridge of the clip on both pieces, and just a little on the upper edge of the gold ring which surrounds the cap jewel. Both pieces are free of any deep scratches, working very well, and quite shiny.
