Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen in working order.
Product Name Parker 51 Aerometric Flighter, this is the earlier version with a gold plated band. They made this version from 1950 to 1960.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1951 (The date code is a 51 with two dots).
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System Aerometric squeeze filling system. It has been tested and is working well.
Color Brushed steel with "lustraloy" finish and a 1-1/2" long arrow clip. The section is black and the trim is gold plated. The trim includes a raised narrow cap band. Usually these bands are flush to the surface of the cap, so this one might be a replacement since there are a few dents on the band which might have been made when it was being installed. The cap has a pearlescent cap jewel.
Nib Extra fine gold nib. The pen writes smoothly and the tipping looks nice.
Condition Excellent condition. The finish is even with most of the wear on the barrel near the clutch band from capping. There is a small ding at the end of the barrel near the breather hole, and a shallow impression on the cap, but no noticeable dents in the steel. The cap band has several dents and looks a bit misshapen. The cap lip has a few tiny marks but is round. The barrel and cap imprints are clear. The pen is working well.
