Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker 51 Aerometric
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA - 1951 (the date code is worn, but we're pretty sure it indicates 1951)
Length Full size pen, just barely over 5-1/2"
Filling System Aerometric squeeze filling system. We've cleaned and tested it and it's working well.
Color The body of the pen is in the Cocoa color. The cap is Coin Silver (which is never marked as such on these Parker 51 caps) with a pattern of seven grouped lines, then one, then seven, then one, with a pearlescent cap jewel. Many coin silver P51 caps get super-polished to remove the engraving entirely, or they get hammered to create an arts and crafts look. (This is not sterling silver which is 925 silver, coin silver has a slightly lower silver content of 900.)
Nib MEDIUM gold nib is very smooth, with generous tipping material. It's writing very smoothly.
Condition Very nice condition with some wear on the cap and body. Though it has no dents, there are a few marks and small scratches in the silver cap, giving it a slightly worn appearance in places (see photos). The trim is good with a tiny spot of brassing on either side of the tip of the clip. The barrel is free of cracks, just some light microscratching, no severe wear. The section has a few small divots near the clutch ring which appear dark (see photos). It's still quite a nice looking pen, though it shows usage. Working very well.
