Product Description
Type Vintage aerometric (squeeze) filling fountain pen.
Product Name Parker 51 Special (the Specials usually had steel nibs, but this one is 14k, which is not uncommon).
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA – post-1952 (there's no date code).
Length 5-7/16".
Filling System Aerometric squeeze filling system. We've tested it and it's working well. It's marked Parker "51" Special.
Color Navy Grey colored body with a stainless steel "Lustraloy" cap and arrow clip, and a black cap jewel.
Nib MEDIUM gold nib is very smooth with great tipping material. It's not as wide as a modern medium, but definitely wider than the usual fines ands extra fines we see on Parker 51s.
Condition Very nice condition, a great user pen for every day. The barrel is slightly discolored to a lighter grey where the cap doesn't cover it. There are some tiny chips in the plating on the cap's tassie-ring, and there's some brassing on the side of the clip. The cap jewel is worn and looks dull (see photos). There are some scuffs and marks on the cap, nothing deep or dent-like, but with some definite scratching. No cracks or chips in the plastic, and no personalization. It's working very well.
