Product Description
Type Vintage collectible fountain pen in a hard to find first year version
Product Name Parker 51 First Year - this model when correct is identified by the following characteristics:
1. Wavy/scalloped line cap
2. Cap is marked near the tassie, not on the cap band
3. Double metal jewels
4. Inprint on blind cap, not near the clutch ring
5. Speedline metal filler
6. Slightly bigger blue diamond and the reverse impression of "Parker" visible underneath the clip
This pen has all these features except for the Speedline filler (it has the later plastic filler), the metal jewels and the big blue diamond clip.
Manufacturer and Year Parker 1940-1
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Vacumatic filling system. The "Speedline" aluminum plunger has been replaced by the later plastic plunger. The system is in excellent, restored here at Peyton Street Pens, and we fully guarantee it will be free of leaks and filling issues.
Color Black body, 1/10 14k gold filled cap in a pattern of two parallel lines alternating with two wavy lines. The end jewels are pearlescent (they would have originally have been aluminum).
Nib Medium 14 k nib, very smooth, good ink flow.
Condition Excellent condition. The body is very nice with only light wear, and it has been polished to be shiny. The imprint on the blind cap is very faint and just barely readable, and there are quite a few scratches on the blind cap. The jewels and tassies are very good with brassing on the edges of the tassies. There is some brassing on the tip and sides of the clip.
The cap is quite nice, with only one or two light scratches and few very shallow and easy to miss dents.
We restored the filling system, we have tested the pen and will fully guarantee it will work as it should.
