Product Description
Type Fountain pen with hand painted design
Product Name Parker 51 aerometric
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA, 1950s-60s (no date code, though it could have been polished off in preparing the surface for painting). We don't know who did the painting, though we suspected it might be Ariel Kullock. We asked him at the L A pen show, and he shook his head no, so the maker is still a mystery. The style is a bit like Chagall, with whom Moses was a popular theme, however the painting doesn't match any of his that we were able to Google.
Length full size 5-1/2"
Filling System aerometric squeeze filler (built in, not removable)
Color The hand painted design features Moses and the tablets on the cap, and a preacher (Jesus?) facing a flock of worshippers on the barrel. Lovely combination of yellows and browns with a few blues here and there. The paint is like enamel, and it was painted over the top of a grey Parker body and metal cap.
Nib The nib seems to be between a medium and a broad. Very smooth and very little wear.
Condition Excellent condition, though there is some crackling of the enamel paint on the cap (see photos below). Very good working pen with a striking, one of a kind customization.
