Type Vintage collectible fountain pen & pencil set in excellent working condition.
Product Name Parker 51 Double Jewel
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA -- 1948. Pen's barrel has a clear 8 with one dot date code, which is rather late for a double jewel set with a wavy line cap.
Length Pen is 5-3/8" long, and pencil is 5-1/8"
Filling System Vacumatic filling system. We have restored and tested it, and it's working very well. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads, which extend and retract by twisting the cap.
Color Cordovan Brown body. Cap is 1/10 14k gold-filled, with a pattern of smooth spaces, broken up by alternating patterns of two parallel lines and two wavy lines. The pen has two pearlescent jewels, and the pencil has a pearlescent jewel on its "cap."
Nib Fountain pen has a fine gold nib. Pencil uses 0.9mm leads, which extend and retract by twisting the cap.
Condition Excellent + restored condition, in box. No cracks or chips. Fountain pen has good color, nice and even. The middle portion of the clutch ring has brassing. Only slight handwear on the body of the pen. The section hood has a fair bit of scratching from the cap. Cap has a shallow dent. The clip has plating wear on the sides. Blue Diamond looks great. Jewels are beautiful, very smooth and evenly colored. Pencil is likewise nicely colored. Light handwear and microscratching. The pencil barrel is personalized with "C. E. BENTEL". The nose cone looks great. The imprints are clear. The box is also in good shape.
