Product Description
Type Vintage collectible fountain pen with some (but not all) of the first year indentifiers.
Product Name Parker 51 First Year - this model when correct is identified by the following characteristics:
- Wavy/scalloped line cap
- Cap is marked near the tassie, not on the cap band
- Double metal jewels
- Imprint on blind cap, not near the clutch ring
- Speedline metal filler
- Slightly bigger blue diamond and the reverse impression of "Parker" visible underneath the clip
This pen has all these features except for the Speedline filler (it has the later plastic filler), the metal jewels and the big blue diamond clip.
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA 1940-2
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Vacumatic filling system. The "Speedline" aluminum plunger has been replaced by the later plastic plunger. The system is in excellent condition, was restored here at Peyton Street Pens, and we fully guarantee that it will be free of leaks and filling issues for one year from the date of purchase.
Color Black body, 1/10 14k gold filled cap in a pattern of two parallel lines alternating with two wavy lines. The end jewels are pearlescent (they would have originally have been aluminum).
Nib Fine 14 k nib, very smooth, good ink flow.
Condition Excellent condition. The body is very nice with only light wear, and it has been polished to be shiny. The imprint on the blind cap is very faint and just barely readable, and there are quite a few scratches on the blind cap. The cap jewel has surface cracking, and there is some brassing around the edge. The barrel end jewel looks great, and there is also brassing around the edge of this tassie. There is some light scratching on the cap, but no dents. The cap lip has some small spots of brassing. There is some plating wear and brassing on the tip and sides of the clip.
We restored the filling system, we have tested the pen and will fully guarantee it will work as it should.
