Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen with a restored Vacumatic filling system.
Product Name Parker "51" Vacumatic.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1948 (the imprint is a clear 8 with no dots).
Length Full size pen, 5-9/16 inches.
Filling System Piston/plunger (Vacumatic) system. We've restored it with a new diaphragm and it's working very well. This is the plastic plunger version of the vacumatic and matches the date code.
Color Black body with a brushed steel (Lustraloy) cap, a blue diamond gold filled clip and a pearlescent cap jewel.
Nib MEDIUM 14k gold nib is quite smooth and firm. This is a vintage medium, and produces a bit thinner line than modern mediums.
Condition Excellent condition. There is a mark on the barrel caused by rough posting of the cap, and some wear on the clutch band. The blue diamond is faded and there is plating wear on the gold plated trim. The lustraloy aspect of the cap looks good but the shiny cap lip is quite dull. The imprint is clear and easily read. The cap jewel looks really clear and unmarked. The pen has been fully restored and it's working very well.
