Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Parker 61, Mark II. We think of the US Mark II as being the capillary-fill model with the wider clutch ring, but it could be they numbered them differently in Argentina ... these have aerometric filling systems, which wasn't a version of the pen we see in the USA, where the capillary filling system was replaced by a cartridge/converter filling pen and is considered the Mark III.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, Argentina -- 1959-62
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Fixed aerometric (squeeze) filing system. (The earlier Parker 61s had the tricky capillary filling system, so this is an improvement in terms of ease of use and cleaning.)
Color The barrel and section are shiny dark grey. Gold lined cap, probably gold plated. Double pearlescent jewels on either end of the fountain pen.
Nib Fine octanium hooded nib. These Argentinian P61s have two metal dots instead of the inset arrow on the hood.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a shiny, elegant pen with a pattern of grouped lines on the cap. The cap has a few scattered dots of pitting and a bit of plating wear along one of the lines opposite the clip. There is a small area of moderate scratching to the left of the clip. The clip has small dots of pitting, and some brassing around on the open end and on the sides. The pearlescent jewels look excellent. The imprints, including "Industria Argentina" are clear.
