Product Description
Type High-end modern fountain pen.
Product Name Sonnet (this is the early version, though this high end model has the wide cap band like the second generation sonnets).
Manufacturer and Year Parker, France -- made in late 1993, just before the Sonnet hit the market (the date code is a L on the wide cap band).
Length 5-1/4".
Filling System Takes Parker style cartridges, or you can fill it with bottled ink via the included converter.
Color Gold plated finish with thin pinstripes of black lacquer, gold plated trim, and a wide cap band. They called this finish "Athenes," and it was one of the top-of-the-line versions of the Sonnet.
Nib EXTRA FINE 18k nib is smooth with nice tipping material with a feed marked X. It's smooth and has just a little flex to it so that it can produce a medium line with a little pressure.
Condition Near mint condition with some light microscratching on the cap and barrel and a little wear on the section. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, personalization, or plating wear. The imprint is a little faint so it's hard to see the date code, but it's still visible. There were no signs of ink in the nib or where the cartridges connect, suggesting that is has never been inked, or even dipped. New old stock, purchased from someone whose relative worked for Parker-Waterman-Gillette in the late 1990s.
