Product Description
Type Vac filling vintage fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA -- 1938 (The date code on the barrel is a clear 8 with one dot. The date code on the nib is from 1936.))
Length 5-1/8", this is the standard size.
Filling System Vacumatic aluminum lockdown plunger filling system has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens and is in excellent working condition. The bladder has been replaced and the pen has been tested.
Color Laminated Grey Pearl body with alternating bands of amber and a gray gradient. It has two striped jewels, one in the cap and one in the blind cap. The cap has three narrow bands. The trim is nickel plated to match the Grey Pearl and is the only Vacumatic to have nickel plated trim.
Nib FINE 14k nib has a bit of give and is a smooth writer. It is a narrow fine nib with a date code of "16." which matches the date code on the barrel. The nib was originally two-tone, but most of the silver colored masking has worn off.
Condition Very nice condition. There is plating wear on the trim, but it's not too bad considering how poorly nickel plating holds up. The barrel has ambered and is more brown than gray, especially on one side. The imprint is legible and the barrel transparency is strong though the bands are heavily ambered.
