Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Long Major
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1942 (the date code on the barrel is a clear 2 with one dot.)
Length 5-3/8", the Major from this time is about 5-1/8".
Filling System Vacumatic plunger filling system has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens and is working well. This has the late plastic plunger system.
Color Laminated black body and cap with gold plated trim. It has alternating black bands and semi-transparent amber bands. The cap has a black cap jewel and 1/8" wide gold cap band with a pattern like this: ///\\\///\\\. It has a blue diamond clip.
Nib BROAD 14k nib. It is smooth and springy with nice tipping material. The date code on it is a .7., which doesn't match the date on the barrel, but we know it was fairly common to swap out these nibs.
Condition Excellent condition. The imprint on the barrel is clear and the barrel transparency is very strong. The section has some marks that look like tool marks around the top edge and near the cap threads. The cap jewel has some small dents in the surface, but is complete and looks shiny in the hand. The clip has brassing along the sides and around the arrow, but the face looks quite nice. Some of the paint is missing from the blue diamond. The clip ring looks great, consistent with the condition of the jewel. Microscratching can be found throughout. No cracks, chips, or dents. It's working well.
