Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Oversize (identified by fat girth, length -- 5-3/8" -- and lockdown filling system). This was the largest Vacumatic at the time, the precursor to the speedline Maxima.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, Canada - 1938 (date code is a clear 8 with one dot meaning the 1st quarter of 1938). Both nib and barrel are marked Canada.
Length 5-3/8 inches ("Oversize" model).
Filling System Vacumatic lockdown filler is in excellent working condition. The filling system has been restored by us with a new diaphragm, and it has been tested. (We will guarantee the filling system for one year from purchase.)
Color Emerald pearl and black transparent barrel and cap. Arrow aka Deco style clip. Three cap bands. Matching striped emerald pearl jewels on top of cap and end of barrel. The clip band has a registered number engraved: 784404. We've had this number on a Canadian oversize Vac in the past, a burgundy one, so it must have been a Canadian imprint for the model.
Nib Stub flexible nib, with a left oblique cut, very wet. Please see video of the pen in action Canada Vac OS writing video.
Condition Superior condition with no chips, dents, or dings. This is a large-sized, shiny pen, with good barrel transparency through the green pearl and black circumference rings on the barrrel. The coloration is really beautiful. The barrel and cap have light wear but are overall very shiny and smooth. The gold tassie at the end of the barrel and the clip ring are very smooth and shiny, but they do have light plating wear and some brassing on the edges. The cap rings have light scratching and some plating wear on the edges. The clip has plating wear on the end arrow and along the sides of the top. The jewels looks great. The imprints are clear.
