Product Description
Type fountain pen with an uncommon nib
Product Name 140 (Marked on cap trim)
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan - Germany, 1955-1963.
Length 4-7/8"
Filling System Piston filling system. We have tested it and it's working very well.
Color Green striped transparent barrel, black cap, and end pieces. Gold plated trim.
Nib FINE semi-flexible 14k nib. It's marked ST for Steno, an uncommon nib. This is especially well-suited for Pitman stenography, which uses strokes in different positions, thickness, and length to represent different consonant sounds. Our friends at the Pelikan's Perch have an excellent write-up of this nib. We've also included a writing sample in our photos below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a classically designed pen in a great color with excellent barrel transparency. There are some moderate scratches from the cap lip on the barrel. The rest of the barrel has light scratching, but no noticeable individual scratches. The piston knob has scratching. The cap looks a bit beat up; the cap band has a lot of pitting. The clip has a lot of plating wear, pitting, and brassing visible under magnification. (Though in hand, it's surprisingly good looking!). The rest of the cap has moderate scratching. The imprints are clear.
