Product Description
Type Fountain pen, Expo 2000 Special Edition. This is #0285/2000.
Product Name M800 Expo 2000 Hanover "Humankind". This was the first of a series of 3 pens released circa 1998-2000 .... first was the red "Humankind," second was the green "Nature," and third was the blue "Technology."
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan, Germany - 1998. This pen is marked "Germany"
Length 5-1/2 inches.
Filling System Piston-filling system. Tested and working well.
Color The barrel is engraved and perforated on a vermeil (gold plated over sterling silver) sleeve. The cap, piston knob, and section are dark red. The top of the cap has the Pelikan logo.
Nib Medium 18k gold nib embellished with platinum.
Condition Excellent + condition, in box with paperwork. Our inspection showed no signs that the pen was ever inked. We do see microscratching on the cap. The barrel overlay has several spots of patina throughout. Under magnification the plating appears thin in some spots, but that could just be the patina; in the hand the pen looks quite even and shiny. The clip, clip ring, cap bands and barrel trim bands all look really good, no brassing or plating wear. This is a large, heavy, and beautifully engraved pen. Tested and working well. The imprints are clear.
Includes pen, printed grey-black SE box with metal spine, and two small booklets (one of which is the certificate). All serial numbers are in agreement.
