Product Description
Type Capless fountain pen -- the nib retracts like a ballpoint.
Product Name Vanishing Point.
Manufacturer and Year Namiki (Pilot), Japan - These Namiki branded VPs were made between 1994-9 and are collectible. This nib has a A1297 date code, so the pen was made in 1997.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Pilot cartridge or converter. A good CON-20 converter is installed.
Color Matte black faceted body with matching black trim.
Nib BROAD 14k nib is smooth and somewhat firm with lovely tipping material. Marked B. It's more like a German broad than would be expected of a Japanese nib. As a note, the Namiki vanishing point nib units are a bit shorter than the later Pilot ones.
Condition Near mint condition, no cracks, dings, dents, personalization, or plating wear. There are a few shiny marks and a few other marks on the body but none stand out. The pen is essentially pristine. Please note that these plastic bodied early VPs can crack, but we have given this one a careful inspection and could find no cracks.
