Type classic style fountain pen
Product Name Platinum President, Model PTB-28000P.
Manufacturer and Year Platinum, Japan -- Relatively recent, as it matches the current version of the pen and the model has changed significantly over time. Platinum calls it its flagship model. This pen does not have the Slip & Seal cap, which was introduced in 2011.
Length 5-11/16"
Filling System Comes with a Platinum converter, and it will also take Platinum cartridges.
Color Clear demonstrator with gold plated trim. It has rounded ends and looks quite similar to the Platinum 3776 but with a different clip.
Nib Fine two-toned 18k nib. It is labeled F. Japanese nibs run fine so this is similar to a western extra fine nib. The nib looks very clean and the imprint and masking are in great condition.
Condition Near Mint condition in box. No signs that the pen was ever inked. We do see some microscratching on the surface in places, and suspect it's just from taking the pen out, admiring it, and replacing it in the box. Ships in a Platinum box with a converter installed. The President model is only currently available in solid colors and not as a demonstrator, so this is a great find for your demonstrator collection!
Note: We did notice that there is some very fine crazing (?) on the inside of the cap, to the left of the clip. It resembles fine threads or tinsel. We can't feel anything on the outer surface of the cap, so we don't think its anything that affects the pen's integrity. We've included some close-up shots of this area in the photos for you.
