Type Fountain pen
Product Name Montparnasse XL, this is the largest of the two sizes
Manufacturer and Year S T Dupont, Paris -- late 1980s.
Length 5-1/2" long
Filling System Parker-style cartridge or converter filled. A Parker converter is installed. The section/nib is internal, and released by a latch on the end of the barrel. Lift the little latch and turn it counter clockwise; this releases the section and allows access to the converter.
Color Silver-plated with a barleycorn pattern. There are no hallmarks, so it's probably not solid sterling. We're guessing it is silver-plated or palladium. Gold-plated trim with a black lacquer inset on the clip. The clip has the serial number 58EPJ44 stamped on the left side.
Nib 18k Medium nib. It's smooth and looks good.
Condition Excellent + condition. No dents or dings. The pen is bright and shiny in hand. There is some tarnishing at the end of the barrel, as well as on the gold-plated barrel ring. The piece on the top of the cap and the top of the clip has some tarnishing. The imprints are sharp. No box or paperwork.
