Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Unknown, it's not a model shown in our Japanese pens book. This was a low end model, possibly marketed to students.
Manufacturer and Year Sailor, Japan. This looks like some of the 1970s models.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Sailor cartridges or converters. A Sailor converter is installed
Color Silver metal (steel?) with a satin finish - it's a lot like Parker's Lustraloy material. There's a shiny silver clip, slightly asymmetrical, with a blue dot at the open end. The cap top and barrel end also have blue dots, and the section is the same blue color as the dots.
Nib Extra-Fine Steel Nib, marked F-3 and Made in Taiwan. There are some marks on the top surface of the nib, but this should not affect the pen's performance. The tip feels smooth and firm. (This nib looks like the nibs used on the Sheaffer-Sailor collaboration.)
Condition Excellent condition. This is a slim, beautifully colored pen. The cap and barrel have light scratching that is difficult to see because of the surface finish. There are a couple of small dots of plating wear on the cap, visible under magnification. The dot on the cap finial has slightly uneven edges. The clip and its dot look great. The blue section has some small scuffs. The trim ring next to the nib looks fantastic, with no brassing or plating wear. The disc on the end of the barrel has some scratches. The imprints are clear.
