Nib Naginata SUPER EXTRA FINE 21k rhodium-masked gold nib. It is marked "H-SEF" on the side, meaning "hard super extra fine". Sailor's version of this really tiny nib has a "Saibi Togi" tip. Saibi Togi is a specialty grind that comes to a very small point that contacts the paper. It requires a very light touch, and it will always feel scratchy. Sailor has even included a special tool in the box for flossing the tines. You should ONLY use this tool to clean out the inevitable paper fibers, because you won't be able to find anything else that is fine enough to get between these tines and maintain the point.
Condition Near Mint in Box condition, with paperwork. This pen has never been used. Ships in Sailor box with special tool. There is some microscratching on the body and cap. The trim looks perfect, no brassing or plating wear. The paperwork is included in the box, as well as an instruction sheet for using this specialty nib.
NOTE: we want to emphasize again how fine this nib is. Looking at the nib head on, it reminds us of a pear-shaped diamond. If you think about how small the point on a pear diamond is, and imagine writing with it, you'll understand how it's almost guaranteed to be scratchy. It feels a little smoother on Tomoe River paper, but even that surface is a bit scratchy. Note the reverse side in the nib close-up shots - the point that contacts the paper is very sharp!
