Product Description
Type Twist filler fountain pen with "check protector" roller on the top. The rolling piece cuts little slits in the paper, intended to help prevent forgery in the wearly days of personal and business checks.
Product Name We think this is model 300 or 300A. It's got a #3 nib and a 3 on the end of the barrel. Please see this great reference page on the Richard Binder web site.
Manufacturer and Year Security Pen Co. Probably mid 1920s.
Length 5" not counting ring hardware.
Filling System Twist fill. We have restored it with a new sac. The filling system is fairly simple in that you submerge the nib in ink and twist the end of the barrel about one full turn, then return it to its original position and wait 10 or more seconds before pulling the pen out of the ink.
Color Black chased hard rubber. Nice and dark with only minor lightening. Gold filled trim.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE #3 Security nib. Very nice nib, smooth and with good tipping condition. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent +, near mint except for a small amount of brassing on the cap band.
