Product Description
Type | Fountain Pen |
Product Name | Sheaffer 1000 aka the Dolphin/Porpoise model. The 1000 is the model with the plastic body and gold plated cap. This is the cartridge version (they also made a Touchdown filling version). |
Manufacturer and Year | Sheaffer - early 1960s |
Length | pen is a hair under 5-1/4" capped |
Filling System |
Cartridge version. This pen was intended only for usage with Sheaffer cartridges, but we have installed one of the very hard to find button converters so that you can use bottled ink. |
Color | Burgundy with gold plated cap. Squared ends. |
Nib |
The nib gives the pen its dolphin name, and it's a variation of the inlaid nibs Sheaffer was putting on the Imperials. The pen doesn't have a real inlaid nib, but instead one which is flat, inserted straight into the front of the section. The nib is marked medium. (See the great article on Dolphin Sheaffers on the PENHERO site) |
Condition |
Gently used, possibly never used because we didn't see any ink on the nib. There are chalk marks on the barrel indicating the model and nib size, and a paper sticker that says it's the cartidge version. There are light micro-scratches on the barrel and cap, probably picked up in storage. Fully guaranteed. |
