Product Description
Type Ring top lever filling fountain pen with a smooth italic nib, restored and working well.
Product Name Sheaffer #2 (we put this in the flat top family).
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA -- 1920s.
Length 3-15/16 inches, not including the rigntop hardware.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Gold filled body and cap in a pattern of groups of five thin lines.
Nib Italic/Stub Sheaffer's Self Filling #2 gold nib is smooth with no iridium or tipping material. It writes super smoothly, which is frequently the case with nibs that lack tipping, but it will wear out more quickly and tend to develop a flat nib tip, which isn't a bad thing for an italic. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition, despite the worn-down nib. There is only light handwear and there are no dents or dings on the gold filled casing of the barrel and the cap. Some handwear on the grip section. The only brassing we see is a small amount along the edge of the round barrel end. Personalized with "L. A. F. to J. R. M." (see pic). The pen has been fully restored and it's working very well.
