Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Sheaffer 800 aka the Dolphin/Porpoise model. The 800 is the model with the plastic body and cap with gold plated trim.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer - early 1960s
Length 5-3/8" capped
Filling System Touchdown filling system. We've restored it with a new O-ring, and sac. It's working very well.
Color Black with gold plated trim. Squared ends.
Nib FINE solid 14k nib. It's springy and unmarked, despite being solid 14k. The nib gives the pen its "dolphin" name. It's a variation of the inlaid nibs that Sheaffer put on it's Imperial line. The pen doesn't have a real inlaid nib, but instead one which is flat, inserted straight into the front of the section. The "Dolphin" moniker is a nickname and not the official name of the nib.
Condition Excellent condition. The barrel and blind cap look great. There's a band of wear on the section from the cap and some microscratching on the cap. It's been personalized, "W.A.B". It's still a nice looking pen, and working well.
