Product Description
Type Snorkel fountain pen
Product Name Admiral Snorkel in a hard-to-find color
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in U.S.A. -- 1952-59.
Length 5-5/8" long
Filling System Snorkel filler, which is working very well after we restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket.
Color Vermillion body and cap with gold plated trim. 1/4" wide cap band. (Vermillion and Fiesta Red -- both hard to find colors -- look very similar, but the Admiral was not made in Fiesta Red, so we conclude this must be vermillion.)
Nib FINE 14k gold Sheaffer's nib (marked F2) is smooth and firm with great tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition, with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a brightly colored, very shiny pen that makes a statement. The color is excellent and consistent. There is light to moderate wear on the cap and barrel. The barrel has tiny chips in the little ledge where the cap lip contacts. The cap band looks good - light scratching and polishing marks, but no brassing, dents, or dings. The clip looks great. There are some tooth marks in the knurling on the blind cap. The imprint is smoothed down, but still readable.
