Product Description
Type Snorkel fountain pen and mechanical pencil set in original box.
Product Name Admiral Snorkel
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA - 1952-9
Length Pen is just under 5-9/16", pencil is 5-1/2"
Filling System Snorkel filler. We've fully restored the system with a new sac, point gasket, and O-ring. It's working perfectly, and we'll include instructions on how to use it. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism, which is working well. We'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Pastel blue with gold plated trim, 1/4" cap band.
Nib MEDIUM open nib is 14k, marked M2. It is in great condition, with a nice tipping, and feels quite smooth. It's got a little flex to it, more than most of these nibs do.
Condition Excellent condition with some wear. There's a short crack in the blind cap, but this does not affect the pen's functionality, nor does it show very much (you can just barely see it in the second photo). There are a couple of small dots of dark discoloration on the pen, one on the cap and one on the barrel. There are just a few light scratches on the cap and lower barrel. The pencil just a little light scratching on it's cap band, and the clip is a tiny bit loose. Otherwise all of the trim looks great, with no real plating wear and hardly any microscratching. The set looks great, box included. The pen is fully restored and both pen and pencil are working very well. No chips, and the imprints are readable and clear.
Both pen and pencil are engraved "Quality First, J. Leukart Mahine Co., Inc. Hi 3-7621" and the engraving is colored gold (see photos below). It's not facing the same direction on the pen as it is on the pencil.
