Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling oversized fountain pen.
Product Name Balance 1000 Lifetime (this is an oversized model and very fat). It would have cost $10.00 new. Circa 1938, pens got model names and this one would be "Premier." The 1000 is marked on the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1936-42 (those were the years they made the Balance in this color and with this "radius" clip).
Length 5-1/2".
Filling System Lever filler. Restored here at PSP with a new sac, and guaranteed for a year from the date of purchase.
Color Grey Pearl striated celluloid with silver colored chrome trim. It has a white dot above the clip and the radius clip. The cap band is 1/8" wide.
Nib FINE two-toned nib. Most of the silver-colored masking is worn away. It says Sheaffer Lifetime on it.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautifully colored pen with good barrel clarity. It is large and impressive. The cap and barrel have light to moderate wear. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip. The lever has some light scratching, and a few tiny dots of pitting. The cap band has heavy scratching, and brassing along both edges. The clip is brassed to a faintly goldish color and has plating wear on the sides and around the open end. The white dot is slightly yellowed, but is intact. The imprints are clear.
