Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling oversized fountain pen.
Product Name Balance 1000 Lifetime (this is an oversized model and very fat). It would have cost $10.00 new. Circa 1938, pens got model names and this one would be "Premier." The 1000 is marked on the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1936-42 (those were the years they made the Balance in this color and with this clip).
Length 5-5/8".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working perfectly.
Color Golden brown striated celluloid with gold plated trim. It has a white dot above the clip and the radius clip. The cap band is 1/8" wide.
Nib MEDIUM gold nib. It's smooth and firm. It says Sheaffer Lifetime on it. The nib has a slight waverly upturn to it and when held at a particular angle writes just short of a broad line.
Condition Excellent condition. There are a few nicks on the clip and there is a smoothed out gouge at the end of the barrel. The barrel imprint is very clear. The trim has polishing marks but very little brassing. The cap has some marks that look like scratches but cannot be easily felt. The pen is very clean, with no cracks, dents, or personalization. It's fully restored and working very well.
