Product Name Balance 5 fountain pen.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- Circa 1930s. (The "radius" clip was only officially produced in 1935 but was made for a decade longer).
Length 5-7/16" and rather stout.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Brown striated with gold plated trim. Ambered ink viewing area beneath the section.
Nib Broad #5 14k nib.
Condition Excellent condition, with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautifully colored, shiny pen in a classic Sheaffer design. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip, moderate scratching, with some heavier marks alongside the lever. The barrel has a personalization, "Anton Byars." The lever has a line of pitting along the righthand side and on the bottom edge. The cap has moderate scratching. The cap band looks excellent with just some microscratching. The clip has plating wear along the outer edge of the flat ball end and moderate microscratching. The imprints are clear.
