Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Balance, non white dot model. The nib is a 3-25, but the barrel is not marked.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA – this clip was made from 1931-34, and this color from '31-35.
Length 5-3/8" long.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Red veined grey pearl color with gold plated trim, a thin single cap band, and the short round ball humped clip.
Nib MEDIUM gold Sheaffer's 3-25 nib is smooth. Good tipping.
Condition Very nice condition. The pen is quite nice, and cap and barrel match very well. The top of the cap and the end of the barrel both have quite a few smoothed out bite marks, but there are no cracks. This Sheaffer plastic color is notoriously brittle, so the absence of cracks is noteworthy. The cap lip is also nice and smooth - a few surface scratches, but no cracking (again, this is unusual!). The section also has what are probably tool marks, which are easily visible in the photos. The trim looks good, with some brassing on the clip and cap band; the lever bar looks good. The imprint is deep, quite clear and readable.
We recommend NOT POSTING this cap due to the expected fragility of the material. We cannot give you a refund if you return it with a crack.
