Type Vac-Fil vintage fountain pen and pencil set, restored and working well.
Product Name This pen is from the Balance series. It does not have a number, and is not a Lifetime (White Dot) model.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1940-42.
Length Pen is 5-1/4 inches long. Pencil is 5-5/8" long.
Filling System Vac-fill. We've restored it and it's working well. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads.
Color Grey Pearl Striated. The pen has a transparently striped barrel. Both pieces have chrome plated trim, and feature the flat ball radius style clip.
Nib FINE Sheaffer's #5 Feather Touch 14k two-tone gold nib.
Condition Excellent condition. This is a classic little pen and pencil set with both pieces working well. For the fountain pen: The barrel has excellent transparency. The edges of the cap band plating are a little rough, which we see a lot in this early chrome plating. The clip looks great. The mechanical pencil has light scratching, but no significant individual marks. About half of the plating on the cap band is gone.
The packaging is in excellent shape. The outer clamshell case looks great, and the inner snap case is really sharp.
