Type Vintage oversized lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Balance 1000 (oversized model).
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA – circa 1935-42 (due to the radius style clip).
Length Barely under 5-1/2".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black with gold plated trim, a radius style clip, and a 1/8" cap band.
Nib MEDIUM two tone gold Sheaffer's Lifetime open nib with a serial number. It's smooth with nice tipping material, and firm. It has a nice upturn to it at its tip.
Condition Excellent condition. There's some wear on the cap around the clip and the cap band, and some lighter wear on the barrel. The cap band shows some light brassing on its edges, and there is brassing on the ball of the clip and its upper end, as well as brassing and grooves on the edges of much of the lever. No cracks or chips, dings or dents. The imprint is still very clear and readable. It's fully restored and working well.
The cap band is engraved with the initials J.B.C. (see photos).
