Product Name Balance. Circa 1938, the Balances gained formal names and this one's is "Miss Universe." The pen would have cost $3.50 new.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1930s-40s, the flattened ball style clip was introduced in 1934 and used on non-Lifetime pens well into the 1940s.
Length Barely over 4-3/4".
Filling System Lever filling system. A new sac has been installed and it's working well.
Color Striated golden brown with gold plated trim. The cap has a narrow band. The clip is the flattened ball style clip introduced in 1934.
Nib MEDIUM Sheaffer's #3 gold nib. It's smooth with nice tipping material, and quite firm.
Condition Excellent + condition. Between the lever and the cap on the barrel, there is a Gregg shorthand mark. The trim looks great with a few marks on the cap around the cap band. The barrel and clip imprints are clear. There are no cracks, chips, or significant scratches. The viewing window is clear. The pen is fully restored and working well.
