Product Description
Type Vintage ring top pen with a nicely flexible nib.
Product Name "Flat Top" ... this is the Self-Filling #2 pen in ring top form
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA - late teens, early 1920s
Length Just barely over 4-3/8" not including the ring top hardwear.
Filling System Lever filler. We've replaced the sac and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold plated trim and a 1/4" wide cap band.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE gold #2 nib is in excellent condition with nice tipping material. It's nicely flexible, with nice line variation from fine to broad. See our writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition. The black hard rubber on the cap and barrel is slightly faded. There's some handwear on the barrel, but not really any scratches. The lever bar has some plating wear along the sides. The cap band has scratching but no real brassing or plating wear. The imprint on the barrel is easily readable. No personalization. This is a modest ringtop, and the value of the pen is largely in the wonderful nib.
