Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Unknown - we believe that this was part of the Sheaffer-Sailor collaboration in the 1980s, but we can't really find solid documentation of this specific pen.
Manufacturer and Year Possibly made in Japan by Sailor for Sheaffer in the late 1980s/early 1990s
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System We tested several options for a converter, and could find none that would fit (see note below for more information). We can confirm Sailor cartridge will work, and we will ship the pen with a fresh cartridge.
Color Frosted or brushed stainless steel finish with chrome trim. There are three grooves on the cap lip and the front of the barrel. The section is black. Unusual offset clip with a black dot on the open end.
Nib FINE F-4 nib. The nib is branded Sheaffer, but we understand that Sailor made the nibs. They are like the nibs on the known Sheaffer-Sailor collaboration called Sentinel.
Condition Excellent condition. There are tiny scratches and marks in the surface of both the cap and barrel. The barrel end looks good, with only light scratching on the surface of the jewel. The clip is quite shiny, with no brassing or plating wear, and only a few tiny scratches on the upper face. The imprints are clear.
NOTE on cartridges and converters for this pen: As mentioned above, we tested several options. Sheaffer converters don't work, because the outer diameter is larger than the section opening. Standard international converters don't work, because the nipple in the section is wider than the opening in the converter. A modern Sailor converter sort of fits, but it's loose and we believe that this will result in leaking. The Sailor cartridges work fine and fit well.
