Type Fountain Pen with matching mechanical pencil.
Product Name Imperial 797. This is very similar to the Imperial 727 and 777 models, but the 797 has deeper grooves and is electroplated.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, USA -- 1990s.
Length The fountain pen is 5-3/16" capped. The mechanical pencil is 5".
Filling System It takes Sheaffer cartridges and converters. A Sheaffer piston converter is installed. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads.
Color Gold-plated. The lined design features groups of 3 deep grooves alternating with a blank space. It has a black section.
Nib Fine 14k V-inlay nib, marked F on the section.
Condition Excellent + condition with no dents or dings. The fountain pen has light microscratching on the cap and barrel. The section has moderate scratching from the cap. There are some tiny marks on the edge of the white dot. The cap lip, around the imprint, looks like the plating is thinned a bit. The pencil has a bit more scratching and handwear, but still appears quite elegant and shiny in hand. There is a tiny bit of brassing near the imprint in the middle of the pencil. The white dot is perfect. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
