Product Description
Type Sunstantial, full size vintage fountain pen in great cosmetic and working condition.
Product Name Sheaffer "Flat Top" (The body, nib and cap indicate the pen was a Lifetime model).
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA - late 1920s, after they moved the clip down a bit from the top. The pen has a "straight" clip, and the pencil has the humped clip that appeared after 1925.
Length Fountain Pen: 5-5/16"; Mechanical Pencil: 5-3/8"
Filling System Lever filler - working perfectly with a new sac. The mechanical pencil takes 1.1mm (thick) refills. A packet of refills will be included.
Color Jade Green. The color is faded on both fountain pen and pencil. Gold plated trim.
Nib FINE gold Lifetime Nib.
Condition Excellent condition, though with the typical discoloration on both pieces. The fountain pen shows a bit of the original color on the threads underneath the cap. There is light handwear and scratching on the barrel. The lever bar has some plating wear along the sides. The imprint is very clear. The cap band has light brassing along the edges. The clip also has brassing and some plating wear on the edges and around the top, as well as on the ball. There are some tiny smoothed out chips on the cap lip, but no cracks. (You'll do damage if you post the cap on the barrel, so if this is a requirement for you, buying this pen will result in heartbreak. The barrel is fairly long and comfortable to use without posting.) The pencil has some small cracks in the material just to the left of the ball end of the clip. The gold cap top has plating wear around the edges. The clip also has brassing and plating wear. The nose cone has several scratches and dents, though the lead extends and retracts easily.
