Product Description
Type Snorkel fountain pen and pencil set
Product Name Sentinel Snorkel Set
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in U.S.A. -- 1952-59.
Length Pen is 5-1/2", pencil is 5".
Filling System The fountain pen is a snorkel filler, which is working very well after we restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. It's working well, and we'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Black bodies with chrome plated caps and gold plated trim.
Nib MEDIUM 14k gold Sheaffer's Triumph style nib is smooth and firm with nice tipping material. There is a paper band around the section marked "medium".
Condition Excellent + condition for this beautiful set. The fountain pen has very light wear on the barrel, but the overall look is smooth and shiny. The nib masking is perfect. The cap and trim are gorgeous. The section threads are pristine, with no brassing or plating wear. The mechanical pencil is excellent all-around. The fingergrip section does show some wear, just slight unevenness of the grooves. No cracks, chips, dings, or dents. The imprints are clear. The box is in great shape, and the original instruction sheet is still present under the platform.
The presence of the band indicating the nib size suggests to us that this pen was either very lightly used, or carefully handled by someone who took great care of it. This set is really a rare gem!
