Condition Excellent condition, in box, and with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a classically designed set in a great repeating diamond pattern with dark outlining that is all intact. The fountain pen has developed some patina/tarnish marks, which are visible under magnification. It is not possible to polish off this tarnish, because it is trapped under the thin clear coating that was applied to prevent tarninshing. This tarnish is particularly noticeable at the ends where there is no patterning. The clip looks nice, with a bit of microscratching and some tarnish around the white dot. The white dot looks very good. The mechanical pencil has some similar blotches of tarnish on the cap end and one dot of tarnish on the barrel area. Overall, the barrel looks excellent; it is shiny and new looking. The cone has light microscratching. The clip has moderate microscratching and a tad of plating wear around the white dot. The white dot is perfect. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
