Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen with Snorkel filling system.
Product Name Sheaffer Statesman Snorkel. The Statesman is a white dot model similar to the Valiant, only with a palladium silver Triumph nib as opposed to two-tone.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1952-59.
Length 5-5/8"
Filling System Snorkel filler with an angled snorkel tube. The cut on the end of the tube is based off of the nib. We've fully restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. Works very well.
Color Light gray body and cap with gold plated trim and a 3/8" gold cap band. This would have been called "Pastel Grey."
Nib FINE Sheaffer's palladium silver nib. It is marked "F4" which matches the nib size and the style/material.
Condition Excellent condition, in box. This is a long, slim pen in a lovely color with excellent shine. The barrel has mainly light wear with some more moderate areas of scratching toward the end. The cap has light scratching all around. There is a hairline crack running from the top of the clip to the white dot, which you can see in the first photo below. The white dot looks perfect. The wide gold cap band and clip have microscratching but both look nice and shiny golden. The box has some staining both outside and inside. The imprints are clear.
