Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen with Snorkel filling system.
Product Name Sheaffer Statesman Snorkel. The Statesman is a white dot model similar to the Valiant, only with a palladium silver Triumph nib as opposed to two-tone.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1952-59.
Length 5-11/16"
Filling System Snorkel filler with an angled snorkel tube. The cut on the end of the tube is based off of the nib. We've fully restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. Works very well.
Color Light grey body and cap with gold plated trim and a 3/8" gold cap band. This would have been called "Pastel Grey."
Nib EXTRA-FINE Sheaffer's palladium silver nib. (The greenish streak you see on the nib was a bit of leftover glue, and it won't be there when you get the pen.)
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a long, thin pen in a lovely color combination and in a classic design pattern. The barrel has light to moderate scratching with the heavier scratching toward the end of the barrel. There is one long scratch that goes over the "Co" on the imprint. The cap has a number of long, thin scratch lines and a few tiny scratches to the left of the top of the clip. The cap band has light microscratching only; it looks excellent. The clip has light to moderate microscratching. The white dot is perfect. The imprints are clear and still have some of their dark outlining.
