Type Slim fountain and ballpoint pen set, working well.
Product Name Targa 1019S Slim version. This is the black lacque filled version. This pen was only made in the slim size, there were none in the full size classic Targa.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in U.S.A. -- 1982-93.
Length The fountain pen is 5-5/16" long, and the pencil is 5-1/16".
Filling System The fountain pen takes slim Sheaffer style cartridges and converters. A working hard-to-find Sheaffer Slim squeeze converter is installed. The ballpoint pen takes Sheaffer K ballpoint refills.
Color Called "Vintage," this is a black and brass lacquer pen with a leaves and grapes pattern. It has 23k electroplated trim.
Nib MEDIUM Sheaffer inlaid 14k nib is smooth and feels soft, with excellent tipping material. There is a "M" on the section.
Condition Excellent condition. Both pieces are very sharp looking in hand, shiny with additional interest from the grapes and leaves panels. On the fountain pen, the polished portions look great for the most part, though we do see a couple of small scratches on the cap lip. There is moderate scratching on the section from capping. Both black end pieces have tiny marks, but no cracks or chip. The ballpoint pen also looks good. Under magnification, we see small subtle marks on the polished areas, almost like an imperfect buffing or slight satin finish. In hand, these areas look just a little bit duller than the matching areas on the cap. The clip looks great. No cracks, chips, dings, dents, or personalization. The gold trim looks good. The imprints are clear.
