Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen and mechanical pencil set with military style clips.
Product Name 1000 Lifetime Valiant. We think the Valiant name refers to this military clip 1000 model, since the slimmer model is called the Vigilant. The pen is marked Skyboy on the clip. Note that Sheaffer used the Valiant name again later on one of their touchdown/snorkel models.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- circa 1940s.
Length 5-1/4" pen, 5-1/16" pencil.
Filling System Lever filling pen whcih we've restored with a new sac. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. Both pieces are working very well, and we'll include a small pack of leads for the pencil.
Color Golden Brown striated with gold plated trim.
Nib EXTRA FINE two tone 14k Lifetime nib with a serial number. The masking is in nice condition, the nib is smooth with nice tipping. It has a slight upturn to it.
Condition The pen is in excellent condition with just a few small scratches and marks and some small spots of brassing on the edges of the lever, the tip of the clip, and parts of the cap band. The pencil has some brassing on the tip of the clip and wear on the end of the cone, as well as scratches on the cap and barrel and tooh marks on the upper cap. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization on either pen or pencil. Both are working very well, the pen is fully restored.
