Product Name Valiant - this is the "Fat" Touchdown version from before the TM models were introduced.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1949-50, with a nib serial number: 1008710
Length 5-1/4 inches.
Filling System Touchdown filling system. We've restored it with a new sac and O-ring, and the pen is working very well.
Color Brown with a 3/8 inch wide cap band with a groove near either edge of it. It has an amber viewing window.
Nib MEDIUM Sheaffer's 14k gold Triumph style two-tone nib with serial number. 1008710. The silver colored masking is platinum.. The nib has a nice waverly upturn. Usage over time has created a slight left-ward oritentation, but the nib is very smooth from most writing angles.
Condition Superior condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a handsome, stately pen in a deep chocolate brown color. The barrel has some light scratching at the end, but both the cap and barrel are otherwise quite pristine. The clip and cap band are beautiful. The white dot is perfect. The imprints are clear, though a little of the white has rubbed off the first few letters.
