Product Description
Type Lever-filling fountain pen
Product Name unknown
Manufacturer and Year Spencerian Pen Co./Conklin, late 1920s-early 1930s. The Spencerian Pen Company was established in New York in the late 1850s. From their beginning until the 1920s, they imported and sold steel nibbed (dip) pens from England, suitable for Spencerian script. Sometime after 1925, they began selling Spencerian-branded lever-filling fountain pens, which were made for them by Conklin of Ohio. With the "Made in USA" imprint, we believe that this pen is one of the Conklin-manufactured ones.
Length 4-15/16"
Filling System Lever-filler, restored with a new sac and working very well.
Color Marbled burgundy with gold-colored trim
Nib Medium + Sheaffer's #33 14k nib, very smooth and springy. Not suited for Spencerian writing, FYI.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks, chips, dents, dings, or personalization. The plating on the cap bands and clip looks really good, hardly any wear, and the same goes for the lever. The barrel and cap of the pen have a little bit of handwear, but are overall quite smooth and shiny. Imprint is crisp and clear. Sticker that reads "Fine $2.00" is still attached to the barrel (this must have referred to the original nib, because the replacement Sheaffer nib is obviously medium or broader).
