Product Description
Type Vintage lever fill fountain pen
Product Name The John Bull Pen
Manufacturer and Year The brand is John Bull, but it was probably made by another manufacturer such as Conway Stewart. Made in England -- 1920s.
Length 5-5/16"
Filling System Lever filler, restored here at PSP with a new sac.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) pen with a nickel plated lever.
Nib FINE SEMI-FLEXIBLE 14k Shorthand Conway #3 nib. It has some line variation. Please see the writing sample below. Even though Conway Stewart could have made the pen, it is unusual that they would have used a Conway Stewart nib for the pen. As a result, we think this could be a replacement nib.
Condition Excellent + condition. The chasing is visible though not strongly present texturally. The barrel imprint is about half worn away and there are a few scratches in the top of the cap. As mentioned above, the pen may have a replacement nib. It has also been personalized, I. HOYLAND. The lever is heavily brassed. No cracks, chips, or major scratches.
