Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Simplicity #23 (marked on barrel)
Manufacturer and Year Chris Thompson Pens, 2002. Thompson was known for taking pen parts from vintage pens (such as the Parker Duofold and Sheaffer Balance) and creating replicas. This does not appear to be one of his replica pens, it's one of his original designs.
Length 5-3/8" and over-sized
Filling System Captive converter, accessed by removing the barrel end-piece. We read that these also take cartridges, but the pen's section doesn't seem removable.
Color Black ebonite cap, section, and barrel. 14k gold clip and clip ring. Clip has an amber teardrop shaped jewel at the end. The end pieces of the cap and barrel are a layered butterscotch and gold marble material.
Nib Medium or broad 14k nib .... not marked so we are guessing.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents or dings. This is a shiny, regal pen that is over-sized and impressive. The cap and barrel have light scratching with some moderate scratching near the top of the cap and near the end of the barrel. The lovely end pieces of the cap and barrel look great and offer a stunning contrast to the black body. The gold bands all have light microscratching. The clip and clip jewel are excellent. The imprints are clear.
