Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen shop display
Product Name Autograph
Manufacturer and Year Venus (American Pencil Company), USA - 1950s
Length The pens are each 5-3/8" long. The display is approximately 16"w X 13"h.
Filling System Lever filler. We have not tested or restored these pens, and if you are interested in trying to use them you will need to have them restored.
Color Various - there are gray, burgundy, black, and a kind of pearly blue. The caps are chrome-plated.
Nib Hooded nibs. Gold colored, but that's probably plating as they originally sold for $1. Various widths - this set has 12 pens, and there are 3 fines, 8 mediums, and 1 broad.
Condition This display set is in new condition as a display set, though the pens are probably not in working condition since we did not restore them. All pens have nib size stickers attached. The pens are in a separate box, and there is a marketing poster included in the box with them. The stand looks really good - no water damage and almost no peeling away of the top glossy layer from the chipboard. The color is very even; no sun fading. There is still a stack of pen instruction sheets attached to the back. The pens have storage wear, but we haven't restored them. You're almost certain to find brittle and crumbling sacs inside. Still, what a great piece of fountain pen history.
Venus was a brand of the American Pencil Company. They bought the Esterbrook company in 1967.
